Live Steam Amateurs
Association

Our association links all individuals who are interested in the live steam hobby. It was formed aver 25 years ago and is now 800 active members strong.

Our membership interests include miniature railways, boats, steam-powered cars and lorries, traction engines, stationary machines of all kinds.

We exchange our findings , we meet as often as possible either on railway sites, on the shores of water ponds, or at homes of those members that geographic proximity, technical or simply human affinities bring together.

We publishi “l’Escarbille”, the only French magazine devoted to live steam along with its supplement called “La Lettre de la Confrérie”. Quarterly issued , it is a true link between all the “vaporists”; though its distribution is limited to the sole members of the association. This magazine is authoritative, even in non French-speaking countries.

The association puts at its members disposal a library which groups the whole documentation that each one accepts to put at others disposal.

A public civil responsability insurance scheme covering risks associated with our activities is granted to our members at reasonable cost.

Being an affiliated member gives straight access to a roster listing names, whereabouts and interests of the other members, thus enabling every one to contact other members for advice and help.

The “RENCONTRES”, a meeting held each year at a different location, deals with the traditional aspects of the management of the association but allows ample time for members to talk and to visit places linked to their hobby. Wives and family are welcome to visit local tourist sites.

Much more, the C.A.V means: more than 50 private grounds, several hundreds of locomotives in good working condition and many under construction at our members’ premises! And a lot of stationary machines, boats, traction engines, trains, haulers and other steam-powered miniatures ! Our bookstore issues reproductions of old catalogues and furnishes complete files for the manufacturing of locomotives, steam motors for boats, hot air engines, and other mechanical realizations.

The “CONFRERIE” means: experience, knowledge, skilfulness, exchanges, mutual aid and friendliness!

Come and join us: you will benefit from the “l’Escarbille” magazine and all of our services! Should you need any information, you can mail us to info@cav-escarbille.com
